Regionalism: Building Coalitions and Making Progress
I believe in regionalism, and that Arlington must retain a strong voice in regional bodies. The pursuit of regional partnerships and policies can have strong benefits to us and to others. I have served as the Chair of the Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments, Northern Virginia Transportation Commission and the Virginia Municipal League.
In 2007, I received the Elizabeth and David Scull Public Service Award for leadership and dedication to regionalism. At VML I created the “Go Green Virginia” initiative, a friendly competition designed to encourage local governments to reduce energy usage and promote sustainability. I will continue to provide regional leadership knowing that Arlington’s future is linked to the health and prosperity of our neighbors, region and state.
